Our
Story
Throughout
our web site, we have emphasized the importance
of visual storytelling and how we can provide
that value to your training. Now it's time to
tell our story. We're Daniel and Glenda Castillo,
a husband-and-wife team of learning consultants
based near Orlando, Florida.
Daniel's Story
Daniel is a senior instructional designer, developing
training for over 8 years. His professional experience
encompasses 7 years of corporate training development
at Seagate/VERITAS/Symantec.
One-of-a-Kind Education
Daniel
graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree
from the famed School of Visual Arts in New York
City, majoring in Cartooning. He studied two years
under comic book master Will Eisner, one of the
founders of the modern comic book, the creator
of the graphic novel, and a pioneer of cartooning
as a training medium. By studying with Will Eisner,
Daniel acquired strong skills in visual sequential
storytelling that he would later apply directly
to training development.

Journalism
complimented Daniel's focus on visual storytelling
during his education. New York City became the
story that he told through several articles profiling
the uniqueness of the inhabitants in the Big Apple.
Mass
Media Adventures
After his college education, ten years in South
America brought Daniel many opportunities to apply
his storytelling abilities. Among his accomplishments
there, he produced promotional spots for a national
television station, created and authored an English-language
news column in a Spanish language newspaper and
won a scriptwriting contest sponsored by the German
Embassy. Concurrently, he learned more about instruction
first-hand by becoming an instructor himself,
teaching English at the undergraduate and graduate
levels.
Computerizing
A Career
Upon
his return to the United States, Daniel joined
the computer revolution that flourished in the
late 1990s and earned an Associate's degree as
a computer networking engineer. He then served
as a network administrator and technical writer
in various companies. Daniel gravitated to a position
as a training developer in the enterprise software
vendor VERITAS (which later merged with Symantec)
and obtained an education on instructional design
methodologies. At VERITAS/Symantec, he applied
his unique visual storytelling approach to e-learning
with great success, winning company awards and
consistently high approval ratings.

Daniel also co-authored an instructional
book on an enterprise software application
(Backup Exec 9 for Windows Servers, published
by Wordware), employing his visual storytelling
approach to teach about backup principles
and techniques.

Even
More Stories
Even
in his spare time, Daniel just can't stop telling
stories.
|
|
He
self-published an animal fiction novel titled
"Claw
of the Wolf" and
created an innovative blog in which the
novel's characters posted their opinions. |
He
also self-published a reprint of a devotional
titled "My
Savior," designing its cover,
interior, web site and blog. |
